HDPE
High-density polyethylene
HDPE is the material of choice for making bottles that contain milk, juice, water and laundry products. These unpigmented bottles have a translucent appearance, a high stiffness and a good barrier performance, which are suitable for packaging products with a short shelf life such as milk.
HDPE also exhibits a high chemical resistance, which makes it ideal for packaging many household and industrial chemicals such as detergents and bleach. The stress crack resistance of HDPE bottles can be enhanced by adding pigments, which improves their durability compared to unpigmented HDPE bottles.
